  • bar cabinet is handcrafted in solid walnut and oak

bar cabinet is handcrafted in solid walnut and oak, celebrating the raw poetry of natural timber in its purest architectural form. Entirely composed of organically shaped trunks and thick-cut planks, the piece evokes the atmosphere of high-altitude mountain refuges and experimental Italian interiors of the post-war period, where craftsmanship and sculptural presence prevailed over ornament. The façade’s rhythmic vertical elements create a powerful graphic cadence, while the open shelving structure recalls the structural honesty of Alpine vernacular architecture. The warm patina of the walnut contrasts beautifully with the more rugged oak sections, revealing decades of oxidation and use, enhancing the tactile depth of the wood grain. Both primitive and sophisticated, the cabinet stands as a functional sculpture — deeply rooted in the Italian artisanal tradition yet unmistakably modernist in spirit. An exceptionally rare and atmospheric piece, ideal for interiors inspired by brutalism, chalet modernism, or the collectible design movement. #ItalianDesign #AlpineBrutalism #BrutalistFurniture #1960sDesign #CollectibleDesign

  • A rare and architecturally refined pair of Italian end tables attributed to Ettore Sottsass

A rare and architecturally refined pair of Italian end tables attributed to Ettore Sottsass, dating from the sophisticated experimental phase of the 1950s. These highly distinctive pieces reveal the elegant balance between rationalist structure and artisanal warmth that characterised the finest Italian design of the post-war period. The tops are composed of alternating walnut and ash slats, creating a subtle chromatic rhythm and an exceptional depth of surface, now enriched by a beautifully preserved original patina. The slender black lacquered metal frames, accented with brunito brass details, lend the tables an almost suspended lightness, while the asymmetrical geometry introduces a quiet architectural tension typical of Sottsass’ early work. Rather than conventional occasional tables, these pieces function as sculptural compositions — understated yet deeply sophisticated examples of mid-century Italian craftsmanship and experimental design culture. An exceptionally rare surviving pair, embodying the dialogue between natural materials, structural purity, and timeless Italian modernism. #EttoreSottsass #ItalianDesign #1950sModernism #CollectibleDesign #ItalianCraftsmanship

  • AFIS LIGHT Somalia

AFIS LIGHT Somalia, 1954 During the decade of the Italian Trusteeship Administration of Somalia (AFIS, 1950–1960), a group of Italian architects and engineers were called to Mogadishu to help rebuild a country and prepare it for independence. Among them was architect Lorenzo Bartoli, who believed that modernity could – and should – respect the land, its materials, and its people. In his spare time, he experimented with local materials and essential forms, seeking a dialogue between Italian design and African identity. This lamp, a rare prototype from 1954, was born from that vision. The arm is crafted from a genuine antelope horn, found in the Somali countryside, shaped with respect and skill by local craftsmen. The structure is minimal: black lacquered brass, three lines in balance, like a sketch in space. AFIS Light is more than a lamp. It is a symbol of a complex season in history – a time of rebuilding, encounter, and transformation. #AFIS #ItalianDesign #Somalia1954 #DesignHistory #AntelopeHorn

  • An early and profoundly expressive work by Giuseppe Rivadossi

An early and profoundly expressive work by Giuseppe Rivadossi, this exceptional dining ensemble from the first production years of Officina Rivadossi captures the essence of Italian Brutalism in its most authentic and sculptural form. The circular table, hewn entirely from solid oak, is anchored by a striking architectural base, its intersecting planes creating a powerful sense of rhythm and monumentality. The top, adorned with subtle geometric inlays, reveals the hand of a master deeply attuned to material and proportion. Conceived as a bespoke commission, the table was originally designed exclusively for a private villa in the Brescia area for a senior executive of Beretta Armi, adding a compelling layer of provenance and exclusivity to the piece. Accompanied by four original chairs, equally crafted in solid oak, the set embodies Rivadossi’s early language — rigorous, tactile, and uncompromising. Notably, the chairs feature an exceptionally rare hand-carved diamond motif, a detail seldom encountered and widely regarded among the most desirable variations on the market today, elevating the ensemble to a true collector’s level. Each piece retains its original finish, never restored, preserving a rich, time-softened patina that speaks of integrity and rare preservation. A highly coherent and early ensemble, distinguished by its sculptural presence, remarkable provenance, and exceptional craftsmanship, offering both historical importance and an unmistakable air of refined, architectural elegance. #GiuseppeRivadossi #ItalianBrutalism #ArchitecturalFurniture #CollectorDesign #RareFind
