Italian striking three-seat sofa from the 1960s, executed in beautifully grained French oak and wonderfully supple light burgundy leather.
Its monumental timber frame, exposed pegged joints and hand-braided rope details give the piece an unmistakably Brutalist character, softened rather splendidly by the generous, sculptural upholstery. Bold, architectural and exceptionally comfortable, it reflects the influence of Brazilian modernism and the work of Jean Gillon, while retaining a distinctly individual presence.
An uncompromising piece of vintage design — rather difficult to ignore, and quite rightly so.
